Lock-down 2020

For writing, we had to write a letter to our future self about Covid 19 and our time in lock down.
Below is my letter.

My goal was to - use language that is suitable to the topic, audience and purpose.

Dear Travis

Umm this is a bit weird writing a letter to myself, remember the big plague outbreak (Covid-19)  in 2020? Have you become a cartoonist? So I'm here to make you remember what you did on lockdown. 

So on the first day of lockdown you sat on the couch watching Ducktales,  and you made American hotdogs. On the second day you sat on the couch and watched Ducktales, again and again and again and again and again. Now that you have finished the series  you played a lot of video games and when I say a lot of video games I mean too much. All so you went on one walk and you hated it. Do you like to run now? Then you had a google meet for school. At the start you didn't liked it but by the end you liked it more then the real thing and then when lockdown ended you wished it was extended.

Mary was praying then an angel came to her and said you will have a child and you will name him Jesus.

Mary went to visit elizabeth to tell her that see was having a baby when she was there elizabeth told her that  going to have a baby

Then on 24 of december mary was looking for a place to stay there they were giving up hope the last person they asked said they had n more rooms but he had a barn that they could stay in and then Jesus was born.

When Mary was traveling a man that god told him that he would meet the son of god when he saw Mary he ran over and said thank you lord and then to Mary this is our savior then the woman said this is the son of lord?

When Jesus was 12 he went to Jerusalem then he got lost Mary was looking for Jesus everywhere  but on the third day they found him in the temple talking to some priest Mary said we were so worried about you.

Jesus and Mary went to a wedding and at that wedding they had run out of wine then Mary helped Jesus do his first miracle.

Mary and the other disciples were praying then the wind started blowing then everyone got flames on their head and started to speak different languages.

Jump in to a jolly jolly jar.

This term, our Project Based Learning (PBL) started with the teachers putting us into groups. In these groups we had to work collaboratively to create Jolly Jars for the school fair. This task helped us to begin exploring our PBL question for the term - How can we build community through our actions? We had to research ideas, be creative with our product, experiment with our materials and write instructions that could be followed by others.

I learnt that instructions need to be simple, clear, easy to read, you have to list the materials and you have to have a title and how to do the thing.   


Reflection on PBL:
For our Jolly Jar my group made snow globes. We did the idea because it was different  

I contributed to my group by making the instructions and bringing some of the glitter. I also listened to others ideas. I shared my ideas to my group too.

Our Jolly Jar was creative because not many people did it and it was unique.

What I learned about working with others was you aren’t the boss, you don't make all the ideas and you have to listen to others. 

How did we build community through our actions? I helped by moving the jars over to another table.  We raised money for the bike track.
